Style Acre Tea Room wins an award
The Didcot Business and Community Awards (BACA’s) 2011 recently took place at Cornerstone, Didcot. Style Acre Tea Room was the winner of the Ethical Stance category for community groups - here’s a photo of the award being presented.

The Tea Room policy of using local produce, and the positive attitude to recycling impressed the judges, but above all the award is in recognition of the valued contribution made by the people working there. The initiative to provide training and employment opportunities for people with learning disabilities, and the confidence they gain from the experience, were all noted with appreciation by the judging panel. Many congratulations to all at the Tea Room on a very well deserved award.

We are delighted to report that after the Grand Opening of the Tea Room by Tim Henman in September 2010 we now have a busy, well supported, thriving enterprise. We employ 6 people with learning disabilities and we are amazed how well they are coping under the pressure of busy lunchtimes. We are now offering a number of work experience places and even have a waiting list for these.
We are very busy and we’re so pleased to see many customers returning to sample our lovely home cooked food.

Our employees are supported by a number of amazing volunteers who willingly give up their time to make the tea room a success. We couldn’t do this without them.
If you are able to offer us some of your time to volunteer in the tea room we would be delighted. We particularly need volunteers on Saturdays and Sundays but also welcome volunteers on weekdays. Even if you can't offer us a regular slot, you could be one of our relief volunteers to cover when others are on holiday or unwell.
Please speak to anyone in the tea room and they can give you more details. Our volunteer application form is available on the following link:

We have an extensive menu of breakfasts, sandwiches, soups, salads snacks, cakes and more. You can view our menu on the following link:

We try to source all of our ingredients from local suppliers and are pleased to offer sausages from Dews Meadow in East Hanney and bread from Crusty’s in Berinsfield
All of our fruit and vegetables come from Savages who have a 40 year history of supplying good quality fruit and veg to the public and to wholesale customers.
In fact, Savages have been instrumental in us having the opportunity to open a tea room within their business. The whole family have helped us enormously and made us feel that we really belong.
